In a time when ore and tin were still mined in the Erzgebirge, the candle arch was invented. After the last shift at Christmas, the miners lit up the mouth of the mine with their miners' lamps. This shape was the inspiration for the traditional candle arch. Initially, miners and christian motifs adorned the candle arches, but today a wide variety of themes are depicted according to taste.
KWO candle arch Seiffen church with 3-D effect
The arts and crafts workshops Olbernhau (KWO) are both traditional and modern in Erzgebirge folk art. The church in Seiffen is one of the best-known and most popular motifs at Christmas time, as the heart of Erzgebirge wood art beats in the toy village. KWO candle arches can usually be recognized by the 11-flame arch. The shaft candles are located around the arch and spread a pleasantly warm light. The baseboards are usually equipped with a second lighting level.

The candle arch Seiffen church with Kurrende is made of plywood and is a real eye-catcher at 65 cm wide. The famous mountain church in its typical octagonal shape is the central motif. Lined by two trees and the characteristic Erzgebirge cottages, it invites you to visit. Christmas services in the Erzgebirge are often performed by carol singers. These carol singers, can be recognized by their long cloaks and hymn books, are visible as an additional skirting board in front of the church. Some singers carry candles, others a lantern, a small tree or poinsettia. There are also two small fir trees on the right and left edges.
You can achieve a better effect at the window with a candle arch bench
This motif strip in front skillfully hides the indirect lighting source with five small ripple candles. The candle arch is equipped with a 1.5 m long switch cable and is ideally placed at the window. To achieve a better external effect, it is usually advantageous to place the candle arch on a candle arch bench.
